Senior Mechanical Engineer

Are you an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer who is creative and visionary? If so, then we have the perfect role for you! We are on the search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our RP team and contribute to our aim of making a difference for future generations. 

In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary Engineering team to deliver projects including research and development focused product development. This role will contribute throughout the development cycle, from design and fabrication, through assembly and installation, to testing, refinement and ultimately full commercialization. You will bring advanced technical knowledge and expertise in Mechanical Engineering, and the ability to coach and mentor our upcoming junior members of the team. This role will require a strong competency in teamwork, judgement and learning agility, if this sounds like you we would love to hear from you!

Essential Skills

  • 7+ years professional experience.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification, e.g. Bachelor of Engineering or similar degree.
  • Experience in design and testing of electro-mechanical solutions.
  • Experience in predictive analysis methods and interpretation of results.
  • Experience of a wide variety of manufacturing methods, and design for manufacture.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • CAD experience: 3D modelling of complex parts and assemblies, creation of 2D drawings with appropriate manufacturing information. SolidWorks preferred. 
  • Hands on skills - Building, assembling, testing of prototypes and early products.   
  • Electrical: Altium, SolidWorks Electrical or equivalent. 

Initially this role will be based mainly at our R&D offices in Newnham Innovation Park in Te Puna - a slice of rural paradise right on Tauranga’s doorstep, a short 15km drive to Tauranga CBD. We also have our Manufacturing site at Taurkio that we may require the successful candidate to travel to and work from on occasions.  We are very excited to currently be in the process of building a new custom-built premises in Tauriko, once completed in early 2025, all the RP team will be working from our new site together.

Senior Mechatronics Engineer

Are you an experienced Senior Mechatronics Engineer with a creative research and development mindset? If so then we have the perfect role for you! We are on the search for a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join our RP team and contribute to our aim of making a difference for future generations. 

Our Senior Mechatronics Engineers work in a capability team alongside Electronics, Firmware, and Electrical Engineers supported and enabled by the Mechatronics Engineering Manager. This role will bring advanced technical knowledge and expertise in Mechatronics Engineering to the Mechatronics team, and the ability to coach and mentor our upcoming junior members of the team. Key responsibilities include product design and development, documentation, technical contribution and leadership alongside competencies such as learning agility, teamwork, planning and organising. 

Essential Skills

  • 7+ years professional experience.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification, e.g. Bachelor of Engineering or similar degree.
  • Experience in design and testing of mechatronics and automation solutions.
  • Experience in predictive analysis methods and interpretation of results.
  • Experience of a wide variety of manufacturing methods, and design for manufacture.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills to resolve resource conflicts and complex issues. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Manufacturing Assembler

We are looking for a Manufacturing Assembler to join our team on a 12-month fixed term contract. In this role, you will work with a close-knit and experienced team to assemble and produce various parts and components to complete the manufacture of high value (and highly complex) robotic equipment and machinery. You will work collaboratively with more senior members of the team and under their technical direction to help achieve tasks which include assembly and fabrication of mechanical or electrical componentry, cleaning, and crating of products in readiness for shipping – and helping to ensure our Manufacturing area is organised and efficient for operation at all times. If you have a passion for high tech, robotics and/or automation – this hands-on role will be for you! You will need to be competent in safely using hand tools and someone who enjoys a fun and dynamic work environment. 

Essential Skills

  • Experience safely using hand and power tools.
  • Experience with accurate measuring and testing equipment. 
  • Experience assembling mechanical and electrical equipment. 
  • Displays good common sense. 
  • Able to follow instructions. 
  • Excellent communication abilities. 
  • Basic IT proficiency.

This is a 12-month fixed term role based at our Manufacturing facility in Tauriko – a central and convenient location in Tauranga.

Delivery Support

This role is all about adding value through working closely with Product Managers, System and Module Owners, and Engineering Delivery Leads, to provide project management support and coordination for RP programmes of work. The overall focus of our Delivery Support role is to bring efficiency to project control and delivery while providing administrative support to the wider RP Engineering teams - and we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running in those areas! 

Essential Skills

  • Experience with project management or project support, and familiar with common project management methodologies including responsibility for budgets, resourcing, planning, and reporting
  • Familiar with characteristics of an R&D and/or engineering/technology environment 
  • Capable and confident communicator
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse range of people personalities and backgrounds
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to effectively Collaborate – this is one of RP’s values and is essential in the way we operate

This is a permanent part-time role between 24-32 hours per week, we are happy to discuss the hours further with potential candidates. Initially the role will be based mainly at our offices in Newnham Innovation Park in Te Puna - a slice of rural paradise right on Tauranga’s doorstep, a short 15km drive to Tauranga CBD. We also have a site at Taurkio that we may require the successful candidate to travel to and work from on occasions, with the likelihood of the role being permanently based at Tauriko from early 2025.

Service & Support Engineer

We are on the lookout for a Service & Support Engineer to join our team. In the role of Service & Support Engineer, you will be responsible for our Spare Parts processes and technical support activities for our growing fleet of globally deployed products. Working alongside internal RP teams such as R&D, Supply Chain and Manufacturing Engineers/Technicians, you will provide support to remote service staff, liaise with operators, gathering information, diagnosing problems, and tracking these through to solutions. As your product knowledge increases, you will autonomously triage support issues and resolve problems by coordinating with the relevant product engineers. You will help document and streamline routine tasks and processes for overall technical support efficiency and help to improve reporting. 

Essential Skills

  • A tertiary education in electrical or electro-mechanical engineering
  • Experience in a similar technical product support role 
  • Experience with trouble shooting and a methodical approach to fault finding
  • A beginner–intermediate level understanding of engineering drawings/designs/ methodologies. 
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, tolerances, and mechanical drawings
  • Able to pick up new software and technology.
  • Excellent communication abilities (both written and verbal) and driven to deliver great customer service
  • Confident to coordinate tasks and people, and to take ownership of issue resolution.
  • Very good organisation skills and detailed oriented 
  • Great problem-solving skills 

This is a permanent full-time role based at our Tairuko facility.

IT Administrator

We are looking for an IT Administrator to join our team! In this role you will ultimately be responsible for supporting RP staff with their general IT needs and requirements including IT induction, administration, security, and technical support. You will also be responsible for maintenance and administration of on premise and cloud-based systems, including VMWare Hosts, Linux and Windows Servers, Line-of-Business Applications, Office 365, and Azure Active Directory. 

Essential Skills needed include a relevant polytechnic/tertiary qualification, 5+ years’ experience in delivering IT support services for a small to medium enterprise , proficient in Windows (preferably Linux as well) based platforms and experience with Intune would be a bonus! 

This is a permanent full-time role based mainly at our offices in Newnham Innovation Park in Te Puna, we also have a site at Taurkio that we welcome this role to work from on occasions.
